Hi everyone, it’s Pride month here in New Zealand and we’re celebrating the LGBTQI community in Auckland Libraries!! To reflect the work we do and the commitment my team and I put in every year I thought I’d do my bit and showcase Rainbow Reads on my blog this month!!
So basically, we promote a whole heap of events throughout the city with author events, themed storytimes, and so many book displays!! Where I work, we put up displays in several areas and even hosted a drag queen storytime last year. Gosh, the amount of admin we needed to complete for that was staggering and despite its success that event wasn’t without a few raised eyebrows and a random comment or two!!
This month’s reads feature tweens and teenagers who identify as LGBTQI and I will have a mixture of book lists and review posts for your reading leisure. I’ve tried not to repeat any older books I’ve reviewed before but it’s a bit tricky as these items are now considered must-reads for the general umbrella of ‘Rainbow Reads’.
