Hi everyone, April has begun and along with it autumn makes herself heard. Our days are mostly cooler and shorter, and daylight savings is on its way… which means more days huddled up in bed!! What better to read than a good ol’ mystery wrapped up in history??! I know you agree with me…
…you definitely do!! Why else would you be here?
In my defense, a mystery set somewhere in the past gets me thinking of not just period details, but also of how kids were back then.
As I selected this month’s reads, I got thinking about the murder mystery series I’ve read and purposely avoided most of them for a few reasons. Firstly, I did review a few of them before, and secondly, I wanted to broaden my own description of mystery.
So, if the booklist of tween or children’s books lack the hardcore mystery elements you find in others, I hope you can find some forgiveness for this blogger! Most of the selections this month are stand-alone stories, or I just haven’t read the remaining instalments of any that begin a series 😀
The teen books fell a bit on the short side, but boy did they pack a punch! Then there’s the single adult historical review, which had me gripped from the beginning. You can’t begin a bestselling author’s book and not have that feeling of pure fear grip you, turning pages while looking over your shoulder, and… well… I’ll let you wait for that week to divulge more!
Now, aren’t you glad you stayed!!
Stay safe and keep reading
