Happy New Year friends!! Welcome to this first post for 2026!! I hope everyone had a restful time over the last few days. This month I wanted to do something slightly different with my themed posts instead of continuing the summer reads. If you’re keen to find out what exactly I’m planning for January 2026, why don’t you press the button below…or keep scrolling… it’s your call!!
Well, thanks friends, I’m glad you decided to venture forth.
This year marks my 5th decade on good old planet earth!! Yes, had my dad lived, he would make some random joke about achieving a ‘half century’ and pile on some more cricket trivia and jokes. Sadly, my brother has picked up this tradition so I just have to brace myself for more Millennial humour thanks to him!!
To those who are wondering if there’s a theme or not, bare with me, I’ll definitely get there. Since I’m more of a Gen X type of person, and a bit old-fashioned, I thought why not celebrate this instead of hiding from it. So, this month, I decided to base my suggestions on what is being called ‘inter-generational relationships’.
What this includes are books about kids who have relationships with either grandparents or people much older than their parents, and the friendships that result from them. Strangely, it turns out there are quite a few such stories out there.
I’ll be giving you a booklist of tween reads and a post with a few teen reads as well. My adult read is a book that kept catching my eye for its brightness from the cover which turned out to have this exact theme.
So, that’s what’s awaiting you this month. I’ll try to get a shortish post on my holiday if I have time, but if I don’t it will pop up next month.
Stay safe and keep reading
Miss Mahee
