Hi friends, this June, despite the wintry blasts that wrap around New Zealand, I’m taking you all on an adventure!! Yes, this last month’s books will feature the ever-romantic, fun-filled staple of summer holidays: the road trip!! So, if you’re looking forward to summer holidays (that’s to all of you in the northern countries!), and require some reading inspo, why not delve further…
Awesome, glad you made it below!!
For as long as I can remember, my parents would take us on road trips. Whether we were travelling with friends in Zambia, visiting our extended family in Sri Lanka, or just exploring Auckland’s beaches, our family loved the road trips they offered! Back in the 1980s and 90s, growing up in two different continents, travelling and road tripping, gave us not only a chance to explore and learn, but to also grow as a family. Needless to say, it wouldn’t have been a family road trip if there hadn’t been the occasional arguments on who got the window seat, who chose the music, or even the often-ridiculous dilemma – who fed thathi his chips!!
As a tribute to my own family’s era of road trips, this month’s books all feature road trips of some sort. The tweens booklist may be a small one, but choosing each title was a labour of love for me. The adult read is actually one based in the country I have called home for the last three decades: New Zealand! The final book-related post for this month is something I’d love to do myself someday. You could say it’s on my bucket list!
I hope that short paragraph has you ready and buckled up for a month of road trip reads!!
Stay safe and keep reading
Miss Mahee
