Hi friends, this personal post is one I wasn’t planning on writing up but I felt I needed to write. I suppose you could call it partly a message and partly a reflection of how my year is faring. Head below for more…
So this year, after having successfully completed my Editing and Proofreading course last year, I decided to try and utilize the skills I learned. After spending close to a month workshopping out the finer details of my ‘brand,’ I started creating a website of my own. And now, that website is live and I have managed to promote it over my social media channels too. If you want to check it out, here it is.

While helping my colleague/client last year while studying, I would be lying if I said I hadn’t learnt much. Every single day brought additional lessons and insights. We’re nearing the home stretch with the work on their manuscript, and as I tick off the checklist of tasks for it, I feel a huge sense of fulfillment. Although the editing part of it took longer than anticipated, the journey itself was rewarding for me. I’m not by nature a proud person; I try to practice humility, but being a part of that project gave me pride in my skills and maybe even in myself. Gosh, that’s even hard to write down!!

When it comes to my volunteer work as a Reader Leader, I’m happy with what I’ve achieved. The group is going strong and now that I have a support person of sorts, the work load there is somewhat manageable. I would say my list of resources is growing as I’m actively reading to collect for this. I find I have a renewed relationship with poetry thanks to the work I do here.
It’s been about a month since my website has gone live. Although the admin side of running a freelance business is daunting, I consider myself content with how I’ve progressed so far. There’s still quite a lot to learn — like any other job that’s out there. In my own personal belief, and those passed down by my parents; the more you learn, the better you become at something.
Which brings me to a somewhat sad message. I spent a lot of time thinking about it and have decided on closing the chapter on this book blog in the next month. Connecting with those who decided to follow me over the last eight years or so has been a blast! I loved seeing your comments and enjoyed counting the reactions to my posts over the years. It will be really hard to say goodbye, which is why I’m giving you all a heads up now.
The next month will cover a theme that is dear to my heart and have books both new and old.
I hope you enjoy these posts when they arrive in your inbox. That’s all from me for now, until the end…
Stay safe and keep reading
Miss Mahee
