What this book is about: After her grandmother falls ill, Claire finds a small sequin star among her treasures. The mystery behind the star deepens when Claire finds herself thrown back in time by the star to 1932. Claire is stranded in the camp of the Sterling Brothers Circus where she’s allowed to stay if she works hard. In this time, the Great Depression has made life difficult for everyone but the show must go on in a circus. As Claire makes friends with circus performers Rosina and Jem, and another boy, Kit, she finds herself entangled in a mystery. A mystery that makes Claire wonder who Rosina and Kit really are…

My review: You know, circus stories always bring an element of nostalgia for me. I just loved the descriptions of the whole setting in this book and the attention to detail Murrell had given in explaining the historical significance of the events that unfold in this story. Some exceptionally awesome characters in Claire, Rosina, Jem and Kit. Young Claire has been portrayed as a courageous young girl who will help and step up for anything that falls in her way. Loved this book!! Great for all ages!!

My rating: 5 ⭐
