Hello everyone, welcome to the very last post for 2020!! I bring you summer tidings from New Zealand and a huge sigh of relief for the end of what felt like an extremely long year!! This extra post for this week showcases an amazing adult non-fiction read I found that was all about librarians, actual real life ones!! Have a read of this post and see if you know anyone in this read!!

Title: This is what a librarian looks like
Author: Kyle Cassidy
Genre: Non Fiction – Information Literature
Publication details: Black Dog & Leventhal Publishers; NY, 2017
ISBN: 9780316393980 – Hardcover 9780316393997 – ebook
What this book is about: This is a book that invites you to check out the portraits of more than 200 passionate, dedicated, and totally awesome librarians and to hear, in their own words, why what they do is so meaningful and important. Author-photographer Kyle Cassidy has spent countless hours travelling around America photographing and interviewing librarians. He has made it his mission to remind us of how essential libraries are and how close we are to losing so many of them. He also profiles a number of exemplary libraries and librarians that serve their communities in unique ways. Finally, the book includes thoughts from various writers about how libraries have influenced their profession, protected and promoted their work, and served their own communities.
My review: I loved every single page of this!! Every single story along with the amazing photos had the power to render me speechless and emotional!! The essays included written by famous writers, journalists and commentators were illuminating and inspirational, and the individual profiles of the many librarians portrayed were… superb!! There, I found a word!! With each librarian’s account of work, I found myself feeling really small and humbled by the amazing things they had accomplished!! If the world had not tipped sideways, I would have been planning to visit one of them by now!! It’s a good thing every time I open a book I get whisked away to somewhere magical!! For a librarian like me, this was an awesome read for professional reasons!!
My rating: 5 ⭐
I hope this post leaves you feeling inspired and excited about the year to come!! I would like to take this moment to wish everyone a happy and magical year to come in 2021!!
Stay safe and find a good book to read through this holiday season!!
