What this book is about: Arranged month by month, this amazing book features actual correspondence between Maria, who lives in Portland, Maine, and Stephanie, who lives in Portland, Oregon. They include not just their intimate stories, but also hundreds of gorgeous photos that detail the everyday beauty of a year of their new lives, changes that happen, and life’s obstacles. With ideas of crafts to create, recipes to try, and inspiring ideas for filling each day with quiet luxuries based on seasonal rhythms, readers can learn many new things and ideas. As each month passes, we gain ideas for creative ventures, timely reminders to slow down our busy lives, cherish the ordinary, and do things with care with the people we love. In this celebration of modern friendship, Maria Alexandra Vettese & Stephanie Congdon Barnes share their secret to living a simpler, sweeter, and more creative life.
My review: This was a gorgeous read about the power of friendship, especially one that survived across the miles!! I found most of the craft ideas really amazing and have even copied a few. You’ll find yourself falling in love with the stunning photos throughout the book along with the lives of the two friends. Although I’m not a mom, I found both Maria and Stephanie’s advice on motherhood inspiring and moving. A well-crafted, gorgeous read!
